This is a golf course that seems to have been built on the premise of "build it and they will come." As part of a residential and recreational development a few decades ago, the golf course is open to the public and nestled within 6,000 acres of northwestern Wisconsin land. (This picturesque golf course even has an airport with the runway located between fairways!)

The tee boxes were meticulously manicured. The greens were as well, and they were fast and extremely challenging with a variety of pin placements. Some of the fairways had very large bunkers strategically placed inviting the big hitters to try to hit over them while the shorter hitters would only consider laying up.

A number of doglegs are scattered throughout the layout. Studying the scorecard and even driving the cart up the fairway to become familiarized with what is ahead is also recommended. There are a few holes that can destroy a golfer's scorecard for but accuracy you probably don't have will keep you out of the variety of hazards that come into play.

Cart paths and adequate signage provide good direction around the golf course. A driving range adjacent to the #10 fairway provided the opportunity to warm up before the round began. Customer service was excellent with the PGA Director of Golf welcoming players to the course and making sure that their questions and requests were properly addressed. The extreme professionalism of the staff and the warm welcome received puts the golfer in the proper state of mind before beginning a round.

Beverage service is available on the course. Vending machines are also located near convenient restrooms. There is a friendly customer service staff in the clubhouse with a complete bar. Adjacent to the bar, is a quality restaurant with a variety of food items including seafood. It's a busy place and on weekends, it is recommended to obtain reservations. Also, it's worth noting that the pro shop is well stocked with quality golf apparel and accessories.

This golf course can be described as picturesque with rolling fairways, some water hazards, strategically placed sand traps and challenging for all skill levels. Northwestern Wisconsin is very scenic and Voyager Village should be right at the top of anyone's list to play in this beautiful part of this state.
