And Trapper's Turn is just that. Phenomenal golf. (27 holes of it.) The course is so special that we asked two cheery regulars, (call them "Norm" and "Cliff") and the general manager, what their favorite "nine" was and they each (simultaneously) said a different one. We laughed. They laughed. We played them. We agreed... with all of them.
This is not an ad for Lay's, but we really couldn't pick just one. If we absolutely had to though, we'd say the "Lake"... or the "Canyon"... well... maybe the "Arbor"... Okay, we refuse to pick! For the sake of argument, we broke it down by hole number. Best first hole: Canyon. Best second hole: Arbor. Third: Arbor again. Fourth hole: Lake. Fifth: Lake. Sixth: Arbor (By a mile! - Signature pick.) Seventh hole: Arbor. Eighth: Arbor (One of the friendliest "Red Tee Holes" in the state!) and the best Ninth hole: Lake. Easy!
As you can see, each nine "represents." You could make an argument for many other holes being "better than what we picked" but that's the point. You can't go wrong. Take your own "Turn" and cast your own vote. Choose your own adventure. It may require a small financial investment but it's a great splurge and a memorable day of golf.
The tee sheets and tee boxes reveal heavy play, and you'll surely wish people would take better care of the course, but the grounds crew works hard and service here (inside and out) is on the ball... concerned first and foremost about you and your experience. There is view after remarkable view, GPS on the carts, elevation changes mimicking backdrop park rides... (Deep breath.) great food (Buffalo Chicken Wrap) in their expansive newly renovated clubhouse, a golf academy, and the busiest (friendliest) beverage cart girl we've ever met (Paige)...
Sports professionals love this place and play here often. But rumor has it "Trapper" means "Hacker" in Kalahari. No wonder we felt so welcome.
"Hacker's Turn"... We love it!
(Note: Yes, we know Kalahari is not a language.)
