The memories and experience come at a steep price for the budget golfer, but a local regular put it all in perspective for us. "You can take a golf trip out of state and spend thousands, or build your own 5 course trip in Wisconsin for half a grand. If it's me, I stay here... and I play the Bull twice." There was avid accord. People love being here. The owners are ever present, as "at your beck and call" as any of their detail-oriented courteous staff. The history and reputation of the course is significant to everyone who works here... and people love working here. The golfers have their tales... of near hole-in-one's on 3 and 6 and being gored by the horns of 9 and 18. Debates rage on the best four-hole stretch with 5 through 8 going head to head with 15 through 18. You get the point. People love golfing here. If Jack designed a bad hole here we didn't find it. Doesn't seem anyone has. This place has received every accolade, and one word pun imaginable... "Remarkabull"..."Unbelievabull"... "Memorabull"... Yeah, it's all that.
You think we're kidding? Check out the hole-by-hole tour on their website.
The practice facilities are expansive and exceptional, the "Champions" restaurant offers great, well-priced, fares. The starters give constructive tips, and the rangers herd you along at 4-hour clips, preventing any and all back-ups on the course.
Where the cost of the round hinders the rating of this course by Hacker standards, the quality of the experience definitely compensates. You won't regret playing here no matter how many balls you lose on #8. For those of us who can't afford to tie our shoes in Kohler, the Bull @ Pinehurst Farms is about as close as we get to the Straits, and if you ask the people who've played here, many will tell you that you need go no further.
"This is as good as golf gets in Wisconsin." They'll say.
"No bull."
