Unless you've run a couple marathons, you're going to want a riding cart at Majestic Hills. The name doesn't lie; the course is definitely majestic, but oh my, are there hills.

Let's start with the majestic. A brand new clubhouse was built a few years back and it's absolutely gorgeous. The upstairs is taken over by a conference center, while downstairs contains a pro shop and full-service restaurant (try out the prime rib!). Right next door is Boulders Inn & Suites and there are some stay-and-play packages available.

Out on the course, it's incredibly quiet (unless you come on Wednesdays, which is men's day), giving you a nice peaceful, easy feeling. The fairways and greens are country club quality (Majestic Hills used to be private), but heed the advice of a course regular who said "you definitely want to keep it below the hole." The greens are quick and being on the right level is crucial.

Now for the hills. It will definitely take you a few rounds before you know where to aim your tee shots, because almost half the holes have landing spots out of view and the hole signs aren't much help. A great example is hole five, a signature hole. From the tee you'll be lined up straight with the 14th green. The fifth hole actually bends quite a bit to the right, so aim accordingly. Tee shots should funnel down the hill, but the next shot is straight back uphill (as is the approach on 14).

The eighth hole is a dogleg right down a steep hill. A good drive or even 3-wood can reach the green, but the smart play is to lay up with an iron. If you plan on going for it, drive down to take a look at the green and pick out an aiming spot that you can see from the tee.

The back nine has an interesting set-up with two par 3s followed by two par 5s. 15 is definitely a three-shot par-5 that requires precision on the approach between two wooded areas. The par-3 12th is a tricky club selection hole (lean towards less club) and the par-3 16th signature has a scenic carry over water, although it doesn't really come in play.

On the non-majestic side, what the course calls a ?driving range? is really just a field with a flag. There?s no beverage cart (except during tournament play), although there is a concession stand out on the course. Overall, the high number of fantastic holes make this course a must play.
