The fun truly begins when you step onto the 10th tee box. A long 469 yard Par 5 dog-leg right starts you off. If you are brave and attempt to cut the corner, be sure you are long enough to carry the water that runs along the entire length of the hole on the right. Without a bit of local knowledge, the Par 4 13th may be a little difficult. While standing on the tee box the fairway looks as though it comes to an end with no pin in sight. That's because the hole turns a sharp 90 degrees to the left. A 185 yard tee shot will put you right in the middle of the fairway, leaving a 125-150 yard shot into the tree guarded green. Then it is on to the picturesque 173 yard Par 3, 14th. A straight downhill shot needs to fly the entire length of the hole in order to carry the stream and get on the green.
Once done with the round, step into the friendly atmosphere of the clubhouse. With a sports bar feel and plenty of flat screen TV's keeping an eye on all kinds of sporting events, it is not unlikely that the course manager will ask you what you thought of the course... he also doubles as the bartender. When you leave the course, if scenery is still on your mind, take a drive through the adjacent Kennedy Park. Winding roads and plenty of walking trails that will take you to the bank of the river will make you almost forget that you are in one of the flattest states in the union.
Lakeside Municipal Golf Course is a flat out value and joy to play!
