What is most enjoyable about playing at Jester Park is not only having a chance with mainly flat greens and wide fairways but the scenery you constantly experience throughout your play. A Jester employee mentioned, "its like golfing with the wild." It is common to see deer race across fairways or see geese and ducks swim in the ponds.
Jester has two signature holes that both have water hazards to put a little fear into the Hacker or the experienced golfer. Number 2 is Jester's first signature hole. An elevated tee box overlooks an intimating pond on the right side of the fairway roughly 250 yards out. You either need to clear the pond or hit your drive to the left side of the fairway. Placing your tee-shot on the left side makes for a difficult second shot on this par 5. This fairway breaks to the right and then again to the left. Position golf is key on number 2.
Number 11, Jester's second signature hole, wants you to try and clear the water. The marker on the tee-box lets you know it's only 235 yards to the end of the water, so you immediately pull out your driver since you think you can clear the water. What you can't see is a very narrow landing spot for your drive. Your best bet is to lay-up, and play the par 5 safe. Don't try and be a long-drive champion on this hole.
The greens at Jester are well taken care of but fairly level. With an average speed for a public course, these greens won't give you too much trouble.
After your round you can enjoy a cold-one in the club house that again, gives you a great view of the 18-hole scenery. For whatever reason, you can't get enough of kicking back and enjoying the view out at Jester Park.
