This course offers an experience for golfers of all levels but it rewards those that are a little more skilled. Just as many opportunities for birdies are available as there are for triple bogies. Pay attention to the signage as the water hazards are clearly marked. Take advantage of holes 1, 2 and 3 as the first two are not overly long par 4's with very little trouble and the third is a nice short par 3. Use your 6 or 7 iron on the 4th to place your tee shot in the fairway middle so you can see around the corner to the green, about 130 remaining to the hole. If you have trouble keeping your drive under control just keep the driver in the bag at least until the turn. The back nine is a little shorter and has plenty of scenery. #11 is the "signature" hole, a par 4 that starts off with a tee shot over water and finishes with a green protected by water. You'll make your way to hole 17, a short par 3 with a true island green. There is a clearly marked drop zone for those not fortunate enough to keep their tee shot from finding the water.
Although the fairways and greens are well maintained the speed of the greens are inconsistent. Most of the tee boxes are good but a few are uneven and could use some attention. The bunkers have great sand but could use more rakes and golfer respect. Yardages are marked clearly with red white and blue stakes in the middle of the fairways. Both electric and gas carts are available along with rental clubs if needed.
The staff members at Holiday Lodge were very nice and the owner is always on hand. The clubhouse has a very nice bar area that offers snacks and bar food and a pro shop with a descent selection of apparel. Tee times are available and the club offers a wide range of leagues for those in the area. Stay & Play packages are available.
