Eagle Ridge, a municipal golf course in Coleraine, Minnesota, is about seven miles northeast of Grand Rapids and overlooks the beautiful Trout Lake. The course has some housing development around it, but the housing does not give the course a closed-in feeling.

The snack bar serves burgers, hot dogs and snacks, and there is a bar for after-round drinks. The service is top-notch and very friendly. The small pro shop has an assortment of clubs and apparel, and pricing is quite competitive. Lessons, instructions and equipment repair are available from the club pros.

The practice facilities are conveniently located by the clubhouse and 1st tee. The practice green is quite large and in great condition. They do allow chipping and short pitching onto the practice green. The driving range has grass hitting areas and good distance marking. The practice bunker has fairly hard sand in it, but it has the same feel as the bunkers on the course.

General course conditions are superb. The fairway grass is lush and well manicured. The greens are in great shape and have good contouring. Because the course was built on top of old iron mining overburden dumps, in some areas the rock from the dumps comes into play when you are in the rough. With four sets of tee boxes, you can find the correct tees to fit your game. There are no long carries required off the tees or onto greens. Most holes are forgiving of slightly errant shots. Several areas of woods and deep rough are marked as lateral water hazards, so you can take advantage of the two club lengths sideways from the hazard line relief option. Hole #6, a par 5, needs a fairly accurate second and third shot due to the water on both sides of the fairway coming into the green. Most of the large greens slope back-to-front, so they are receptive to approach shots. Greens are well bunkered, but all of them are open in front for bump and run approaches.
