The course starts with a 554 yard Par 5 that is straight uphill. It is tough to see where the green is, but the fairway is wide enough to keep your first shot in play. The 5th hole, a Par 3, is the course's signature hole. The tee box is located just 135 yards away, but it is located about 100 yards below the tee box. The view from the box is spectacular, but club selection is as difficult as it gets. The other Par 3's are much simpler, although the 11th is 218 yards and is the only hole on the course where water can come into play. Keeping the ball short and left is the only safe place to miss on this tough par 3.
The biggest flaw in the course is it is nearly impossible to walk. All of the hills and ridges make for beautiful scenery, but walking 18 holes is a true task. The off course was somewhat tough to use; there is no path between the clubhouse and the driving range. The signage on each hole wasn't all that helpful. They showed where the tee box is and where the green is, but nothing in between. For a Badger fan, one of best parts of the course is anytime you're faced with an intentional blind shot. Behind the center of greens the course has positioned large University of Wisconsin flags. The first time player can use these as an aiming point when taking such blind shots.
The course also has great season pass option giving you reciprocity conditions at several other courses including: Portage Country Club, Koshkonong Mounds Golf Course, Edelweiss Country Club, and Kestrel Ridge Golf Course.
