When we played this course on a beautiful Monday morning in early June, we were welcomed by a brand-new (2006), fully appointed clubhouse, well-stocked pro shop and full restaurant. The facilities are extremely well kept, and the staff is friendly, helpful and abundant. There is a putting green with adjacent sand area for hazard practice, the normal chipping areas and also a grass driving range. Electric carts are available, and while we chose to use them, this would be a relatively easy course to walk, at just under 6200 yards from the white tees.
The three sets of tee boxes, various leagues and special senior rates are just the start of the variety of offerings for golfers. Of all the courses played recently, this was one of our favorites. This course is very hacker friendly, which is embodied by its overall length, mostly wide-open fairways and large, flat greens. Although the course has a significant amount of mature trees and a couple narrow fairways, we found it forgiving for the occasional errant shot. The course is very scenic with vistas and Cannon River and prairie views.
We enjoyed the traditional layout and never felt like we were playing the same hole over and over again. The scorecard’s illustrations of the hole layouts helped us to navigate holes for ideal shot placement. All in all, the average golfer has a good chance to score well at this course. You do not need to consistently drive the ball 250+ yards to have a realistic shot at par. The course is scenic and varied enough to keep your interest, and the facilities are top notch, clean and very well kept. We would return any time, and we feel confident in recommending this course as an excellent choice for a great day of golf. The 19th hole would be a great venue for lunch, dinner or a beverage or two of your choice.
