Signature hole number 5 on the front nine is a straight away par 5 with heavy timber on both sides of the fairway. Typically with two nice wood shots you'll get close to the green but most golfers might be a little intimated by the large trees right off the tee box. Golfers on this course will spend time in the trees but that's what adds to the experience.
The back nine has a signature hole that definitely makes you feel like you're in Dubuque with the rock ledges along the left side of the fairway to the green. Number 11's uniqueness is placing your tee-shot in the right place. The rough on both sides of the fairway are side hills which means an accurate tee-shot down a narrow fairway is ideal. But what's most unique is the narrow green lying next to ledges of rocks.
The staff on this course is one of the best in the state. From the grounds crew to the service in the clubhouse, everyone is willing to stop and chat for a few minutes and tell you about their course. They are really proud of how they continue to maintain such a beautiful course and will offer up any advice to improve your score. A practice facility and more paved cart paths are a few things this course is missing but working with a city budget the crew is doing an outstanding job.
Pricing is very comparable to other 18-hole public courses but what's priceless is shooting a great score here. There are many holes that give you an opportunity to get birdies, if not eagles. Hit-em straight and be ready to tell someone how well you shot at Bunker Hill!
