The opening hole has a bit of a raised tee box which looks out to a simple but tree lined fairway. A gentle and simple start to a smooth round. Four sets of tees provide options for any skill level, and it’s quite evident that this course is both simple and testy enough to satisfy most any golfer. It won’t bore you, neither will it stimulate you. It’s just good old fashioned golf. People of every age come here to play, and the course welcomes women and children. It’s a great family golfing destination. Bristol Oaks also caters to many group outings and events. The course is surrounded by woodlands and farmlands. That is its main charm. Top that off with a large pond in the middle of the course and it takes on an element of beauty.
The pace of play on the course, both weekend and weekday was pleasing. The holes flow together nicely with very short walks from the greens to the next tee box. Walk or ride, either way you’ll enjoy yourself. Each hole had its own challenge that was just a bit different from the one before. Every hole had a bunker or two in a strategically placed area, making it somewhat less inviting. And yet there weren’t too many fairway bunkers to cause any problems. The greens were in pretty good shape and remain so year round. They’re not the easiest to read, which actually makes for a nice challenge. And the few scenic water holes mixed in make for a pensive round of golf.
Overall, Bristol Oaks was a pleasant experience, from check in to the beer cart ladies. The service, food and golf, were tasty and fun. All employees seemed to enjoy serving to all our needs. This is a good value and worth your time as a golfer of any caliber.
