One of the first things that catches your eye on White Birch and throughout Brighton Dale, is the quantity of mature trees. Most holes are surrounded by them, which gives the course an intimate feel, even though there may be a few hundred golfers scattered all over the course. Hole # 4, a 169 yard par 3, typifies the feeling you will get on the White Birch. Cathedral pines provide a perfect backdrop for this beautiful hole. From the elevated tee, take a moment to enjoy the scenery before taking your shot at the well-bunkered green.
White Birch offers a good mix of holes for all levels of play. If you can keep it out of the trees, the course can be very hacker friendly. Yet, there are enough hazards to test even the best players. Course conditions were great. The tee boxes, fairways, and greens were clean and well manicured. The bunkers had fresh sand and were soft. It is clear that the grounds crew takes pride in their work.
The staff at Brighton Dale was very professional and extremely helpful. They made it clear that their role is to promote golf. Pro shop operations were smooth. The clubhouse area and the course itself were very clean. The Grill served your basic bar food of burgers, dogs, and snacks, but also offered breakfast and a well-advertised Friday Fish Fry.
The practice facilities, while well maintained, are a bit small. With 45 holes, and the popularity of this course, the putting green and driving range could be double their current size. Their website has specials for daily play, as well as season passes for juniors, students, and seniors. Anyone who wants to play can certainly find a deal.
There are not too many places outside of a big resort where you can play 45 different holes on the same property. White Birch and Brighton Dale Links has everything a hacker would want, a well groomed course, friendly staff, and prices that will keep you coming back.
